I wanted to make AppSteward affordable whilst keeping it sustainable to develop.

Here’s the reality: I could release a version in the Mac App Store, but Apple’s restrictions would limit it to just showing you information. You’d still have to manually open each app, and handle all the downloads. That defeats the purpose.

I built AppSteward because I wanted something more useful: an app that could actually open the App Store to update, open an app so I can easily run the update, or direct me to download the new version, and save me time. This genuinely adds value to my workflow, and I hope it does for you too. But those features are not permit in the App Store.

Distributing independently means using payment processors with higher overhead, with all processors charging a percentage and a flat fee per transactions. A low monthly price would mean over a third of every payment would go to fees. To make monthly billing viable, I’d need to charge significantly more just to break even, which feels excessive for an app monitoring tool.

So I’ve gone with quarterly, as well as yearly billing:

Both plans cover hosting, development, and keeping the app working as macOS evolves. Both include a 14-day free trial. Cancel any time during the trial and you won’t be charged a penny.

Download AppSteward and choose a plan to start your 14-day free trial. Cancel during the trial and there’s no charge. Cancel later and you’ll keep access until your subscription ends. If it doesn’t add value or save you time, it’s not worth the money.
